During the first weeks of March President Cogan was on annual leave. He traveled to Mexico just prior to the current health crisis really having a huge impact in the United States. The crisis continued to get worse. Then came the order to close our southern border, and citizens being told to return home or shelter in place. He cut his trip short and caught a flight home. There is no such thing as social distancing on a full airplane. Boarding, flying and deplaning were the same as it has always been.
Due to the possibility of exposure and based on advice from a health care professional and discussions with Vice President Bill Martin, we decided he should work from home for two weeks. He has have been and will be in constant contact with the local office. All the local officers and stewards have his email and phone number. He has, and is, in contact with several of the Portland District management team, requested return phone calls from others and have provided his personal contact information. When Vice President Martin is outside the office and none of the other stewards or officers are present, all calls will be forwarded to his personal cell phone.
Thank you for your patience, diligence and understanding during this global pandemic. Please continue to follow the guidelines for hand washing and other safety protocols to help stop the spread of this virus. Request to speak with your steward or call the Local office if you have any questions or concerns.
